so i am going to do the Better 30 Day Song Challenge! it is exciting. i’ve been planning to start for a while but got hung up trying to figure out what to use for this first post. here it is!

day 1: your favorite song

PJ Harvey - Long Snake Moan 

favorite song? i don’t know. changes by the day and depends more on the mood i’m in or the mood i want to be in than anything else. but this one has been part of my essential canon since forever. to me, it represents femininity and power. it’s things rising from a dark and dirty swamp, it’s something soft and sweet that coils around you only to start devouring you, it’s the ultimate iron fist in the ultimate velvet glove.

when i am steeling myself for something that requires depths of bravery and strength, i hear the “mmm-hmm” in my head. then i plunge into battle - and whoever i’m fighting had best beware.
